The SPS certification is highly valued in the job market, as it demonstrates your knowledge and skills in scaling Scrum to multiple teams. The certification can increase your career opportunities and earning potential, as many organizations require or prefer candidates with Agile certifications.
The SPS certification focuses specifically on scaling Scrum to multiple teams, whereas other Agile certifications may have a broader focus on Agile principles and practices. Additionally, the SPS certification is offered by Scrum.org, which is a leading organization in the Agile community and is known for its rigorous certification programs.
The SPS certification exam is designed for Agile practitioners, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and other professionals who work in organizations that use Scrum to deliver complex products and services.
There are no formal prerequisites for taking the Scaled Professional Scrum certification exam, but Scrum.org recommends that you have experience working in a Scrum environment and have taken the Scrum Foundations or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification.
While there is no formal training requirement for taking the Scaled Professional Scrum certification exam, Scrum.org recommends that you take the Scaled Professional Scrum course to prepare for the exam. The course covers the SPS framework, practices, and techniques, and is taught by Scrum.org trainers who have real-world experience in large-scale Scrum implementations.
Scaled Professional Scrum (SPS) and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) are both frameworks for scaling Agile across multiple teams and products, but they have different approaches and philosophies. SPS is based on the Scrum framework and focuses on maintaining the core values and principles of Scrum while scaling it. SAFe, on the other hand, is based on a combination of Agile, Lean, and Systems Thinking and provides a more prescriptive and structured approach to scaling Agile. SAFe also includes additional roles, practices, and artifacts that are not part of the Scrum framework.
The duration required for exam preparation hinges on your prior familiarity with Scrum and your individual learning approach. Typically, candidates spend about 1-2 months preparing for the exam, but this timeline can be shortened if you’ve already attained a high level of proficiency.
The SPS certification is valid for life and does not require any renewals or ongoing maintenance. However, Scrum.org recommends that individuals continue to learn and stay up-to-date with the Scrum framework to maintain their knowledge and skills.
